A Guide to Being Faze'd
Who I am, what I offer, and what you can find here.
I am creating holistic frameworks to support the growth of global culture, or the positive transformation of eco-socio-political-economic organization.
Firstly, I am an explorer. I’m also a philosopher, writer, mentor, facilitator, dancer, artist, builder, tinkerer, dreamer, visionary, debater, vibe coder, a runner and biker and swimmer and singer and many other things.
About This Blog:
This blog centers on philosophical self-reflection.
The more personal posts can be found in the section titled Feeling Faze’d, which you can subscribe to exclusively if you want to avoid my more abstract musings.
.
I’ve written four installments about my transition from MA to CA in search of deeper purpose, radical philosophical community, and general expansiveness:
California Dreaming: The Search For Spirit (pt. 1)A Life’s Journey; from fiery boy to Burning Man
California Dreaming: The Search For Spirit (pt. 2)The rest of my first Burning Man journey; On the creative tension of receiving and giving; Reverence for the Man, the Woman, and the Dream; and other philosophical storytelling.
California Dreaming (Part 3)Update on the First Four Months in NorCal; Dreaming the Life, Living the Dream
California Dreaming (pt. 4/4): End of Faze’ Q1Searching for new Space in a Sub-Surface Shuttle
.
I’ve written a few smaller, personal and philosophical self-reflection updates:
Interlude On Conflict and Morality (I got publicly shamed, again!)The differential value of objects, outcomes, and other oppositions
I am a FAILURE and I embrace the convergence of opposites (a very brief life update and self-reflection [less words, more pics])
Lessons from ~3 years in an EcovillageReflections on the Sirius Community from the spring of ‘22-’25
The more abstract posts can be found in the section titled “Phase Space”, which you can subscribe exclusively if you want to avoid my more personal/social musings. You can also subscribe to only the more philosophical and “professional” content on the official POSITs blog: blog.posits.earth
I write as explicitly as I can about philosophy, including summaries and introductions to my manifesto, Positive Realizations, and implications of this framework to topics like AI/AGI/ASI (general and super intelligence) and the “phenomenal binding” or “combination” problem.
In order of (roughly) most important:
What’s Even The Point.... of doing philosophy? (just in case it wasn’t obvious)
6-7 Simple Arguments for Pan-Psychismand why computers are probably more conscious than you
The Apocalyptic Rapture of Transcendent Intelligencea short post on ASI, and why BOTH+AND, including either/or
P(Death)/Timea deeper dive into the probability of % human death over time from ASI, Ecological, and Geo-politico-economic disruption
Just Another (another) Substack Debate About PanExperientialism?w or without Matt Segall, the CIIS Hegel and Whitehead scholar
Just another substack ‘debate’ about Pan-ExperientialismA Big Reply to Sweet Rationalism (Nathan) about my framework, Positive Realizations Theory (PRT)
A snippet from MC0001The Founding Assembly for Machine Consciousness, wherein I told everyone I proved panpsychism, and wherein Joscha Bach was 100% certain of mind-matter dualism. Plus, a better metric than P(doom)
Positive Realizations: One-Pagers(summaries, abstract)
POSITIVE REALIZATIONSanother introduction to the beginning of the culmination of much of my life’s striving
The Universalism of Unified ExperienceOn so-called phenomenal combining/binding, or the emergence of a thing from smaller things, and the relative challenges of sneaky, persistent dualisms.
About Faze:
I want to be known. To be seen. Understood. I want to be transparent, brave, vulnerable. I want it to be easy to get to know me. I want to be inspiring. Maybe you’ll be inspired — to try something new, to reach out, to ask deeper questions. Maybe you’ll be disappointed. Either way, you’ll learn something about yourself, I hope.
Intellectual Biography:
I have studied philosophy pretty intently for over a decade, beginning with a strong eastern influence; Buddhism, Taoism, and “new age” integrations of mysticism and science. Psychedelics, Watts, Mckenna, Plum Village, the Tao of Physics, etc. Then, becoming disenchanted with what appeared to be too simplistic, vague, and removed an idealism, I turned to Marxism: the Manifesto, the manuscripts, Capital V. 1 & 2, Engels origin of family, Lenin state and rev, David Harvey, Michael Roberts, Michael Heinrich, I.I. Rubin, Endnotes, etc.
Becoming disenchanted with what I saw as too rigid, binary, and academic an approach, I became most interested in Hegel, Schelling, Delueze, Spinoza, Whitehead, etc. -- dialectical, theological, process-centered, phenomenological systems. I integrated my various influences, and my cultural context into a spiritual, communalist project. I lived in a shared home in an ecovillage, learned about permaculture, appropriate tech, biogas, cob building, living machines, DIY vibes, as well as communal social technology.
We experimented with Sociocracy, Nonviolent Communication, Internal Family Systems, Possibility Mgmt., and various meditative dialogue modalities like circling and insight dialogue. Becoming disenchanted with the slow pace of change, the financial challenges, the interpersonal limitations, the power dynamics, etc. I left to study as an electrician, thinking I would be letting go of the desire to be a world-changing movement leader. Then, my path urged me to write again - to finish the synthesis of thought I’d been searching for and longing to develop for years, and to move to California to further a holistic, (post-rationalist / super-rational) spiritual, trans-humanist, community project.
I am building out my recently conceived nonprofit, POSITs, to continue my research and development of highly coherence intentional communities; working to publish my writing more widely, developing a digital inter/personal alignment tool based on liquid democracy, and networking for deeper collaboration globally, from the network society movement through the Frontier Tower, Edge City, and the tech-forward intentional community scene (perhaps the Frontier or leading-edge community movement).
